New Owners

Welcome to your owners corporation

When you buy a lot in a subdivision with common property, you automatically become a member of the owners corporation. Here is what that means and how to get started.

Your first steps

  • Send us your contact details so you receive levy notices, meeting notices and minutes
  • Read the owners corporation rules – they cover pets, parking, noise, renovations and more
  • Check your plan of subdivision to understand your lot boundaries and the common property
  • Arrange contents insurance (owner-occupiers) or landlord insurance (investors)
  • Book your move-in and organise keys, fobs or remotes if needed

Key terms

  • Common property – land and areas not part of any lot, owned jointly by all owners
  • Lot entitlement – your share of ownership of the common property, which sets your voting rights
  • Lot liability – your share of the owners corporation’s expenses, which sets your levies
  • AGM – the annual general meeting where budgets are set and the committee is elected
